Stop 2 - Basic Buffer Design

Stop 2 on the virtual tour takes us to an area which shows basic buffer design.

You can see that a buffer consists of two sections. From the right, a large native grass strip that can filter runoff, improve infiltration, and slow overland erosion; and a woody strip consisting of a mixture of trees and shrubs that supply woody roots for soil stabilization, soil organic matter, and filtering capabilities.

All of the vegetation provides valuable wildlife habitat.
