Here you can see the wetland starting to take shape. The tile that was broken to use as a water input is to the left of the tree. This will be the "input" side of the wetland. The outflow box that will send cleaned water into the stream is to the right of the tree. This way, the water has to take a long path around the outside of the wetland border to get from the input to the outflow box. |

The area in this picture that is being used for a wetland is a sandy soil and would not hold water very well. In this picture, the bottom of the wetland area is being lined with clay to create an impermeable layer so water will stay in the wetland. The recommendation for sizing a wetland is 1 acre of wetland for every 100 acres of field drained by the tile being used as input. |
