Agroecology & Animal Management Issue Teams of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association

The Iowa Cattlemen's Association has teamed up with the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture to determine the impacts of managed grazing on stream ecology and water quality. This opportunity is important because of the impact that livestock management has on all of Iowa's ecosystems.

This group is examining strategies to reduce concerns about ecological damage while keeping livestock management systems unencumbered.

Team Progress:
Soil & Root Sampling
Runoff Plot Studies
Streambank Erosion Studies
Riparian Grazing Demonstrations
Whole Farm Phosphorous Estimates
